The Digital Lodge is a multi-year project to train a group of youth from Thompson, Manitoba in the art of digital storytelling and the practice of digital responsibility and citizenship. The project aims to harness the power of digital media and movie-making to inspire positive growth and change in young people and their community.
Youth participating in the project will learn to tell their own stories, and those of their community, through video documentary and various types of animation. This website will host their work and will become a hub of digital storytelling and creation as the project evolves.
The Digital Lodge is part of the School District of Mystery Lake Education for Action Project, supported by Manitoba's Aboriginal Education Directorate. This is a project that is targeted to support students beginning in grade seven and continuing through to grade 12 graduation. The emphasis is on four key areas:
The first two years of the Digital Lodge and Educating for Action Project involves two grade seven classes from Juniper School in Thompson, MB, an elementary school in the Mystery Lake School Division with students in Kindergarten to Grade 8. For the third year of the Digital Lodge the youth have moved over to R.D. Parker Collegiate where they will remain for the remainder of the project.
